Black Cats on Halloween

Being a black cat on Halloween is not fun. Do you have a black cat? What do you do to protect her on Halloween?

My dear fellow cats and guardians,

I have a plea for you today. Tomorrow is Halloween and we black cats are in danger on the otherwise fun day.

People have been afraid for centuries of black cats – I never understood why. We are normal cats just with a dark coat. There is nothing mysterious about us.

But people have this superstition that we bring bad luck and we are punished for it.

It is especially dangerous for us being out on Halloween. There are sick people out there that torture and kill animals for fun, and on Halloween we black cats are going to be the target.

So my dear guardian, please keep your black kitties inside tomorrow, so they won’t get hurt.Kati outside by healthycatdetective.com If your kitty walks on a leash, go ahead and take her outside – but not by herself. Also keep her away from the door where your Trick-or-Treat kids come for candy. Kids are loud and do crazy things to make themselves scary – but that also scares us. Some of us get so scared that we run out the door and with all the scary kids out there we can get easily lost and possibly hurt or killed.

So, please, keep us away for our safety.

Mom also read that many Shelters do not adopt out black kitties around Halloween in order to make sure that they are not being adopted just to torture and kill them. This is a great thing and I wish every shelter would participate in that.

Now I hope you all will be safe and have fun tomorrow. If you have some funny Halloween pictures, please send them to me, and mom with make a gallery to show them off.

I wish everyone a safe and Happy Halloween and a big miau to everyone!

Quick word about pet insurance

Do I need to get pet insurance? Yes or No?

Kati on the cat tree by healthycatdetective.com

Dear guardians of my furry friends,

The pet insurance question is kind of a tricky one. My mom and dad looked into pet insurances a while back and every one of them stated that you have to pay upfront at the vets office and then eventually, if everything is in order, they will reimburse you for the treatment.

That is something that is not very helpful. If I have to pay the whole amount first, and then hope that some part of it is covered and I get reimbursed, I do not need pet insurance.

Also, pre-existing conditions are not covered. Well, I do not have any, but the once mom checked all wanted you to sign up and then they will review the medical records and tell you if and what is not covered. I do not want to sign up into a binding contract and then find out that I am only covered for accidents for example.

There are so many things you have to pay extra, for example one of the pet insurances saidKati in her cat house by healthycatdetective.com that you have to get the more expensive plan, if you want the wellness visits covered. Really? I think those are the most important visits, because, if I am healthy, I will not need medical treatment. This is all backwards.

So eventually mom decided to not get pet insurance for me. Our vet is wonderful, because if I need some big medical treatment, mom and dad can pay in installments.

But by keeping me on healthy food and healthy treats, mom and dad try to limit any medical problems. Yes, I have to go to my yearly visits to see, if everything checks out, but that I do not mind – I like the car rides…

Also mom is asking for tests first, before I get any kind of shots. The one I have to have is the rabies shot – it is mandatory in Florida, but I get the 3 year one, so it is not so bad. Everything else will be determined, depending on the test.

So my dear guardians, do you have pet insurance for your furry kids?

Let’s talk about it. I am looking forward to a big miau conversation.

Miau Miau and I am going now to take a nap.
