Help for Blind Cats

Do you want to adopt a cat? Why not adopt a blind cat?

Blind cats are normal cats. There is nothing wrong with them. They are happy and healthy cats. Only difference – they can’t see. So, what’s the problem? There is no problem!

Hi my furry friends,

Mom is very active on Facebook – about to set up our Healthy Cat Detective page, so she is now following a wonderful site Blind Cat Rescue. Here is their website: http://www.blindcatrescue.org

These wonderful people take in blind cats and give them a forever home.

Blind cats have it very difficult, because shelters do not want to keep them on the grounds that people would not adopt a blind cat. So they are the first to get euthanized. I feel so bad for those kitties.

They are normal cats like you and me, they just can’t see. But they don’t feel they are different. It is not an impairment for them. They can climb cat trees, they play,Kati hunting lizards in the tree by healthycatdetective.com they run around and are happy.

So why not adopt a blind cat. There is only a couple things that have to stay the same at all times: keep their food in the same place and keep their litterbox in the same place. That’s it.

Cats navigate by their whiskers. So when they walk their whiskers tell them, if something is in they way, and they walk around the obstacle. People that adopt blind cats can even move their furniture. Cats will walk around – I promise.

Blind cats can get a little disoriented, especially if you pick them up and walk around with them. So after you cuddle with them and hold them, put them down near their food or litterbox. So they know where they are. If they come to you to cuddle on their own, there is no need to do that, because they found their way to you and they know where they are.

She will be so happy to have grass under her paws, and she can experience all those wonderful smells. Just don’t let her outside on her own. That would be very dangerous for her, because she can get into trouble, or other animals could attack her. But if you take her out she will feel safe and have lots of fun.

It is so easy to take care of a blind kitty. We all need to get the word out and help them get adopted. If you are going to adopt a cat, why not choose a blind kitty. Ask your shelter if they have one, or if they can let you know, when one comes in.

Every cat deserves a loving home. Please help!

Here is my BIG THANK YOU MIAU!!!

Working Cats Adoption Program in Minnesota

Do you have a business that has problems with pests? Do you have a shed, garage, barn, etc. that has pest problems? Why not adopt a working cat!

Kati outside in the grass by healthycatdetective.com

My dear two and four legged friends,

I hope you are all doing well. Today mom read an article from Dr. Becker that introduces a program for unadoptable cats – the “Working Cat Program”. You can read the whole article here:

http://healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2016/09/01/working-cat-program.aspx?utm_source=petsnl&utm_medium=email&utm_content=art2&utm_campaign=20160901Z1&et_cid=DM115239&et_rid=1644780669

So, what is this article about? Well, the Animal Humane Society in Minnesota instituted a program that places cats that do not do well as house cats, but are litter box trained, in businesses or places where they are needed as mouse, rat, etc. catchers. You give them shelter, food, medical care and they “work” for you.

Here is their website:

https://www.animalhumanesociety.org/adoption/working-cats

I think this is a wonderful idea, because it can save the cats life if they are otherwise unadoptable.

Ask in your shelter, if they have, or if they would consider a program like that and you might get an invaluable “employee”.

So, I love that idea of a working cat program. If you do too, please spread the word!

A big miau to everybody!

Attention: Finding Forever Homes Event Saturday July 23, 2016

My dear readers,

Please, on July 23rd, 2016 NBC and Telemundo are hosting the annual Clear the Shelter event with shelters across the country. This is the link to my hometown event http://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/Clear-the-Shelters-Give-a-Pet-a-Loving-Home-383809791.html

Help my friends get a forever home and check your local shelters for times and locations.

We have so many homeless pets that live a lonely life in a shelter without someone to love them. I am a rescue myself, but was lucky that I did not have to go to a shelter, because my mom came and picked me up before my first family had to move where they could not have pets. But other pets are not so lucky.

So before you go out and buy a pet at a store, please check out the shelters in your area. You will find many many many lovely pets waiting for a wonderful person like you to take them home.

So please, join this event on Saturday July 23rd and let us know in the comments, if you found a pet and gave him a forever home.

I want to thank you upfront in the name of all the wonderful pets in the shelters.
