What is the best cat toy to get for my cat?
There is no simple answer. Every cat is different. Every cat likes different toys. Some like balls, some like chase toys, wands, electronic toys, laser toys, you name it. Join me on a journey to find the right toy for your precious friend.
Well, hello my furry and not so furry friends,
You will be joining me on a journey of my most favorite subject in the world – homemade toys, cat toys, any kind of toys…. for your feline companion.
Yes, cats love toys – well, for the most part.
When we come to a guardian’s house, we usually are pretty young. So being taken away from our mom has its disadvantages, because we learn cat behavior from our mom. Not having this training, we need toys. Well, yes I know, we have our instincts, but toys make learning soooo much more fun, don’t you think?
There are so many cat toys out there to provide us with hours of bouncing and hunting and swatting and hiding and chasing…..
Having such a wonderful dad that brings home every cat toy he can find for me to try is heaven. And if I am not too enthusiastic, well, he takes it back and exchanges it for something else I might like. So that gives me a big advantage as a detective, because I can tell you all the pros and cons of a toy. Now when your guardian goes out to buy a new toy for you, he/she can make an informed decision on what to get for you.
Aren’t those big words for me?
There are many different categories of cat toys like:
Balls, crinkle toys, laser toys, rattle toys, treat dispensers, electronic toys, motion toys and so many more.
We will go over each and every one of them – and yes, I own or owned most of them – so you can see what you might like, or maybe not like at all.
My cousin for example, she only likes the soft rubber balls that she can carry around and throw down the stairs. She was playing once or twice with a cat wand that had a feathery tail and a crinkle ball, but then she went back to her favorite – a yarn with a knot at the end.
Yep – homemade cat toys are the best
I have my favorite my mom made for me – a plastic stick with some silver wrapping bands tied to it – who needs a commercial cat toy when you can have something homemade.
Some guardians ask, well, what is the best cat toy to get for my cat? As I said above: There is no simple answer. Each and every cat has their own preferences. But I have never met a kitty that does not like to chase balls.
Now sometimes I like to chase a laser dot. But only for a short time. There is no reward at the end. Every time you catch it, there is just air – nothing to grab. Oh, and I only want red dots, because I do not see the green and purple ones my dad has – he has lasers in all colors, which he needs for his work. So I could have a lot of fun. But even the green one is very strong, I cannot see it. So, if you get a laser, please get a red one. And a big word of warning – NEVER EVER SHINE A LASER INTO MY EYES – I can go blind and I am sure you do not want that.
But as always, I am getting ahead of myself. Mom is going to do reviews of cat toys one by one, so you have an easier time of choosing.
Pffffff, I am due for my afternoon nap. So please excuse me, I am going to sleep. Love you all and please come back when I am awake

Review: Petlinks™ Pure Commotion™ Electronic Cat Toy
We got this motion toy for Kati and I took some videos of her reaction to it. You can watch it below or on the Review page. The toy is one of many that have a base and a wand attached to it. It would be nice to have other options than just putting it on the floor, but I know there are many cats that love to hunt, jump and chase. So in my opinion it is a nice toy. But read my complete review here.
